Today I attended a Court Breakfast as the guest of the Worshipful Company of Weavers with the Clerk at Tallow Chandlers Hall.
Our invitation described it as breakfast but in fact it was a lunch! Upper Bailiff John Pilling gave a very short speech of welcome to all guests. I was well seated between Colonel Julian Radcliffe the founder of Control Risks and main shareholder of the Art Loss Register. On my other side I had Peter Afia of Marvic Textiles. It was a most entertaining and amusing lunch and much enjoyed.

City & Guilds 2011 Lion Awards - The Master & Past Master Nicholas...
City & Guilds 2011 Lion Awards - The Master & Past Master Nicholas Charrington were invited to attend the 2011 City & Guilds 2011 Lion Awards Ceremony at the icon Round House in Campden. The whole The Lion Awards Dinner is the culmination of the Medals for Excellence programme. Each year the Guild invites all Medals for Excellence winners from across the UK and Republic of Ireland to London to celebrate their achievements together. It was very humbling mixing and talking to the winners who, when they go home to their communities, will become role models for others to aspire to. The evening was hosted by Michael Howell and we were both hugely well entertained!

Mercers Associated Companies Dinner - The Master, Warden and Renter Warden were all invited to dine at the Mercers Associated Companies Dinner. This was huge fun where the Master Broderer was invited to speak on behalf of the guests in response to Master Mercer – Sir David Clementi. Copy of the Master’s speech is attached. It was very gratifying to know that news of the success of our 450th Election dinner was very much the ‘topic of conversation’.

The Worshipful Company of Broderers commenced their 450th Anniversary year with an election dinner at the Mansion House by kind permission of the Lord Mayor Alderman Michael Bear. No livery company could seek or wish for a more sensational setting to celebrate.

The evening was a complete ‘sell out’ with the Egyptian Hall being filled to capacity as 350 hosts and guests including Wardens and Sheriffs who all sat down to a three course gourmet’s extravaganza.
